Welcome to Alpenhof German Shepherd Dogs.

You are looking at one of the finest and most versitile breeds available. High intelligence, loyalty, and protectiveness are just some of the characteristics that make the German Shepherd Dog an excellent companion and working breed.

Located in the Niagara area, we are a small kennel where all our dogs are family raised. We have owned GSDs for over 25 years, and aquired our first brood bitch, 70% German lines, in 1994. We switched to ALL German Imports in 2000, and are most pleased with our choice to date. Our dogs and pups live inside our home, as part of our family. We work our dogs regularly, to keep them in good condition and focused.













Our breeding goals are focused on temperament, high intelligence, working drives and conformation, which we have found, after much research, with our world famous Kirschental lines. We have chosen to breed by SV breed regulations, to help us to achieve our goals, and to uphold the German Shepherd Dog Standard (SV) in order to preserve the "Conformation" and "Workability" of this amazingly versatile working breed. The German Shepherd was, and still is, the Total Dog.
To be able to "Work" and to be a "Companion to Man".

It is our belief, that if we do not strive to breed for these traits, we are weakening this fine breed. Schutzhund is very often misunderstood in the dog world. Aside from being an excellent evaluation of temperament, workability and a prerequisite for breed suitability evaluation, we firmly believe that rather than teaching them to bite, Schutzhund teaches the GSD control of his working drives.
